With 45 full-time faculty, more than 500 undergraduate majors, and 200 graduate students, English is one of the largest and most vibrant departments at GSU. We are proud of the breadth and excellence of our programs, which range from the two-semester Freshman Composition sequence to Ph.D. programs in literary studies, creative writing, and rhetoric and composition. In addition to these traditional specializations, the Department offers course work in linguistics, literary theory, cultural studies, folklore, professional and technical writing (including electronic editing and publishing), and secondary teacher preparation. Faculty also participate regularly in courses offered by the Honors Program, the Department of African American Studies, and the Women's Studies Institute.
